Cycles of Life
This work is about the hills and valleys of life that we all must walk at some point. I created this piece over many months while undergoing chemotherapy in Winter 2021-2022. Each of the six mosaics represents one of the six chemo cycles I had: 6 cycles, every 3 weeks for 18 weeks. Sometimes it felt like I was walking straight up hill, and sometimes it was easier.
There were four main things that kept my spirits high as I walked this journey: love from my family and community, being in nature, making art, and my mindfulness practice.
Although this work was based on my personal challenge, the experience of walking the ups and downs of life is universal, one we can all relate too. My mosaic says: this is what it is like to be human. Can we allow it to be just as it is? Can we make space for this, too?
